What is after hours or pre-market trading?

Pre-market trading gives you the ability to place trades before the market opens. After-hours trading allows you to place trades after the market is closed . Both pre-market and after-hours trading are important for many reasons. For example, major news stories are often released before the stock exchanges open or after they close.

Can I buy stocks after market hours?

Yes, you can buy stocks after the typical trading day has ended. Trading after hours, or post-market trading, usually occurs between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m ET. After-hours trades take advantage of electronic communications networks, also known as ECNs. Pre-market trading takes place from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. ET.

Can you buy stock after market close?

You cannot buy the stocks after the market is closed, you'll have only have a window of 6 hours i.e. from 9:30 pm to 3:30pm to buy stocks. However, you can place an order to buy the stock after the market is closed.
